CBSE Class 10 Science Paper Analysis: Experts Call Exam Easy, Say ‘Students Will Surely Score Well’

CBSE 10th Science Board Exam 2025: The CBSE Class 10 Science Board Exam 2025 was conducted today, February 20, in a single shift from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The theory paper carried 80 marks, while the remaining 20 marks will be awarded through internal assessment. Check the paper analysis below.
CBSE Class 10 Science Paper Analysis
The CBSE Class 10 Science Board Exam was well-balanced and in line with the CBSE sample papers, according to educators.
“The paper included competency-based questions that were familiar to students. They were well-prepared for the concepts tested,” said Shaifali Bhatia, Educator at Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad.
Ms. Chinar Banga, Head of Senior Years at Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad, noted that the paper met expectations. “Students will surely score well as all questions were within the NCERT syllabus,” she said.
Saurabh Shukla, PGT Physics at Global Indian International School, Noida, described the difficulty level as moderate. “The numerical section was straightforward, with direct questions, while the assertion-reasoning section was simple. Overall, it was a well-balanced paper,” he said.
Students also shared their experiences. Tejas, a Class 10 student, found the paper easy to attempt and was relieved that no diagrams were required.
Diksha, another Class 10 student, mentioned that while most of the paper was covered in revision classes and pre-board exams, a few assertion-reasoning and MCQs were slightly tricky. She also pointed out an issue with a Physics MCQ: “The speed of light value in the options was incomplete—108 was missing in all choices.”
CBSE Class 10 Exam 2025: Science Exam Pattern
The CBSE Class 10 Science exam 2025 will have an 80-mark theory paper. The marks distribution for different units is as follows:
- Chemical Substances – Nature and Behaviour (Chemical reactions, Acids, bases and salts, Metals and nonmetals, Carbon compounds) – 25 marks
- World of Living (Life processes, Control and co-ordination in animals and plants, Reproduction, Heredity and Evolution) – 25 marks
- Natural Phenomena (Reflection and refraction of light, Functioning of a lens in the human eye, Refraction through a prism, etc.) – 12 marks
- Effects of Current (Electric current, Ohm’s law, Magnetic effects of current, Alternating current, Domestic circuits) – 13 marks
- Natural Resources (Our Environment) – 5 marks
Total Marks: 80

CBSE Class 10 Passing Marks
To pass the Class 10 board exams, students must score at least 33% in each theory subject. They also need a minimum of 33% in practicals, projects, and internal assessments. Overall, students must secure 33% marks in both theory and practical components combined to clear the exam.
