Kate Hudson has surely starred in enough romantic flicks — from “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” to “Fool’s Gold” — to be considered a “rom-com queen,” but she’s still a little iffy about the label.
“It’s a mixed feeling because now that I’m older, I love it,” Hudson said during the March 6 episode of the “Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce” podcast.
But she admitted that having “success in a rom-com as a woman” can be a double-edged sword.
“I think what happens when you have a very successful rom-com, it sort of becomes what people expect of you and want from you, and as an actor, you’re sort of like, ‘Yeah, but I want to do a million different things.’”
“As Hollywood goes, they love to put you in a box,” she added. “They love it. And so I think when you’re younger, it’s like, you don’t want to be pigeonholed into an idea that that’s what you do. And the second you have success in a rom-com as a woman, it’s like, they just want you in that.”
“The best part about sex in your 40s, honestly, is the freedom,” the Golden Globe winner said in a Feb. 25 interview with Bustle. “Sex isn’t supposed to be pretty, and I think that when you get older, you kind of have more fun with that.”
